Braun Renshi began training in the martial arts in 1986. Originally, he was taught Shorei Kempo Karate, but has also added many other styles to his skills over the past 37+ years.

So why the nickname of Frozen Crane?
Its a play on words. Braun Sensei is a student of Feeding Crane Kung Fu and also born and raised in Wisconsin, where the cold weather is the norm. So training outside for him in the snow with the frozen ground can be an everyday thing for many months. Braun Sensei is even known for hosting classes outside when its "warm enough" (35'F) even if there is still snow on the ground. Braun Sensei has stated that he is more comfortable in the cold than the heat.
